The Department of Justice and Apple -- The iPhone Saga Continues

Apple and the Feds -- Part 2

In my post dated April 1, 2016 (located here), I suggested that the dispute between the Department of Justice (which includes the FBI) and Apple about accessing iPhones was not going away any time soon.  It most certainly is not.  The Department of Justice today indicated that it will be appealing the ruling in a case in Brooklyn because it still needs Apple's help unlocking an iPhone.  In fact, the FBI Director stated yesterday that the apparently successful hack utilized in connection with the San Bernardino iPhone will not work on later models.

Stay tuned as this issue works its way through the legal system.

  1. Will always be a hot issue. On the cell phone at the heart of this matter, I'm on the law enforcement side vs. privacy. The FBI will be in a battle to keep us safe. Obtaining every bit of information from that phone will help the FBI. They (the FBI or any other arm of Big Brother) will not be looking for selfies and funny cat videos. -Ed Balzarini

  2. As indicated in my previous comments. It is a question of security versus the rights we have on our personal things. I reaffirm indicate that if Apple fails a way to indicate some information on this possible question "national security" will be at the mercy of the government to enter into our lives even more.

I do not agree that enter our lives, but this right should not be given if the person endangers others.
